So far this season their have been plenty of weekends that shook up the college football landscape. Unfortunately this past weekend was not one of those. With no upsets in the top ten, and most top 25 teams playing pretty much nobody week 11 was perhaps the most uneventful. There is still some movement in the poll this week....just not much.
Who's Up!
Boise State
That's right the Broncos are back in the top three. TCU's performance against San Diego State combined with the performance of Utah at Notre Dame says a lot about the Horned Frogs. The domination of Boise State over Idaho says a lot about the Broncos as well. Boise State looked more like a top three team than TCU this week, but a little slip up by Boise State ant TCU will be back up. This remains a fluid situation, and either one could jump to the national championship game if Oregon or Auburn slips up.
Who's Down!
Utah
Just two weeks ago the Utes were in the top ten and could be considered national title contenders. This week they are barely hanging on the edge of the poll. The last two weeks the Utes have only scored a whopping ten points, and have now dropped a bomb in South Bend. The loss at South Bend may say a lot about the Mountain West conference, but it certainly says a lot about the Utes. Over the last two weeks Utah has looked like a team on the decline, and a team that could very well find themselves completely out of the polls with another poor performance.
Iowa
For the second straight week the Hawkeyes came up short on the road. While it is possible that Northwestern just has Iowa's number, the fact remains that good teams find ways to win on the road. In a game that at times seemed sloppy, and not just the whether, Iowa looked slow and unprepared at times. A far cry from a team that took Michigan State to the woodshed a few weeks ago, and a team that was contending for a Big Ten title. But don't worry Hawkeye fans...a win over Ohio State is a step back to the promised land.
Who's Out!
Arizona
Surprisingly a team that beat the Iowa Hawkeyes is a team on their way out this week. Over the season the Wildcats have been on the downward spiral. A team that looked impressive in their win over Iowa at the beginning of the season now looks like a team that is stuck on the downward trend. Since losing Nick Folles to injury for a couple weeks, Arizona has struggled and the loss to USC at home is just the tip of the iceberg. A season that started with so much promise for Arizona has now spiraled out of the PAC 10 race, and worst of all our poll.
Who's In!
Northwestern
The Wildcats have been a team hanging on the fringe all season. At times Northwestern has looked impressive, and at others they have looked average at best. Giving up leads against Michigan State, and Penn State do not help Northwestern's cause, but a big win over Iowa does. For the first time this season the Wildcats were able to find a way to win a tough game. Not to mention doing it in a come from behind fashion. An impressive win for Northwestern, but a trip to the top 25 that could be short lived with the injury to Dan Persa.
