It seems like it was ages ago now. Then this weekend reminded us of the great battle between the Boilermakers and the Badgers in 2004. Just like Saturday it was the Boilermakers that looked like the better team early. Then the Badgers picked it up and eventually went on to win the game.
Only in 2004 Purdue was a different team. The battle between Purdue and Wisconsin was a battle between two teams that came in undefeated. Purdue the more highly rated of the two with national championship aspirations. Wisconsin the team that seemed to be over achieving.
Late in the game it seemed like Purdue was going to finish off the Badgers but Bucky was able to rally. After a John Stocco to Booker Stanley touchdown the Badgers had rallied back to a three point deficit, but the game still looked to be in Purdue's control. That was until Purdue quarterback Kyle Orton rolled out a naked bootleg. A play that many Purdue fans wish was a terrible dream.
Orton would fumble and Scott Starks would take it back for a touchdown. Wisconsin would go on to win the game 20-17, and remain unbeaten for another week.
For the number three on the list of the greatest Badger football plays of all time we give you: Scott Starks Beats the Boilermakers.
