Just like every weekend this weekend was full of games that are shaping the overall picture. Once again perception is in the eye of the beholder, and this week the perception is much different. Upsets in the top ten are shaking up the political landscape, and the top 25 is all shook up after a weekend of exciting football and upsets.
Who's Up!
LSU
The Tigers were outside of the top ten last week, but this week they move up in a big way. After the loss to Auburn it was tough to put the Tigers in a highly ranked position because of they way they won many of their games. A lack of mathmatical abilities by Tennesee (mainly being able to count to eleven), and a crazy comeback against Florida left the Tigers outside the top ten. Without those breaks the Tigers could be sitting with three losses, but they were able to win. Despite how lucky some of those victories may have been. This weekends victory over Alabama was no fluke. There was no luck. The Tigers plain flat out beat the defending national champions. That's why they are our big mover this week.
Who's Down!
Alabama
So much for a repeat as national champions. The Rolling Tide fell for the second time this season, and have been eliminated from national championship consideration. While Alabama has not been blown out, or ever been out of a game this season is besides the fact. The convincing way that the teams that beat the Crimson Tide is convincing of one thing...they are not a top ten team. At least not right now. The defense lacks the same flash that it had last season. The offense looks average even with the talent that it possesses. The Crimson Tide do have at least one chance of redeeming themselves this season. A win over Auburn will put them back in the SEC championship, and another shot at a BCS bowl.
Oklahoma
In perhaps the most surprising upset of the day the Sooners fell to Texas A&M. While Oklahoma was able to rally and make a game of it, they were unable to overcome the deficit, and the Aggies prevailed for their first win over Oklahoma in years. Perhaps the most devastating part of the whole loss for the Sooners was that their rival, Oklahoma State, dispatched of Baylor and is now in control of their destiny in the Big XII south. Then add in the fact that the Sooners were number one in the BCS just a couple weeks ago, and you have a team that is fading fast.
Who's In!
Florida
That's right they are back. The Gators have quietly snuck their way back into the top 25 with a convincing win over Vandi this past weekend. While the Gators are no where close to the top five spot they once held, they are improving. It should be added though that the wins over Georgia, and Vanderbilt are not all that impressive, but impressive enough to get back in. A key game against South Carolina this weekend will determine the rest of their season as a spot in the SEC championship game, and ranking in our poll is on the line. Take a guess which one is more important....probably our poll right?
TCU or Boise State?
TCU
As painful as it is this question had to be asked. After the dominating win over Utah the Horned Frogs have now hopped over Boise State in our poll. It's not that Boise State has not been that impressive, but rather that TCU has been even more impressive. But a game against the Wolf Pack from Nevada is looming for the Broncos and an impressive win in Reno will be a big step in getting back in front of TCU.
