Young and Dumb...Might Not Be That Bad

For Mike Eaves, and his Wisconsin Badger hockey team, the national championship game aginst Boston College seems like a lifetime ago. Since then the Badgers have replaced two assistant coaches, and 11 players from last years frozen four club.

This year the Badgers feature a lot of fresh faces in the cardinal and while, and Mike Eaves doesn't have a problem with that. On the "Badger Hockey Hour" on WIBA, Eaves pointed out the advantages to having a younger team.

One of those advantages is hard they work compared to a veteran team. Eaves stated that the strength and conditioning coaches have had an easier time with the younger players because they are more eager to get to a college level of conditioning.

Eaves also pointed out how the younger players are very talented and are learning new things when it comes to being a better hockey player. So what does that mean for Badger fans this year?

It means a team that may not be pretty at times, but it should be a team that grows throughout the season. And don't expect a different approach when it comes to how Eaves will use the younger players.

In the interview with Brian Posic from the "Badger Hockey Hour" Eaves pointed out that this team will not change philosophies when it comes to how they approach the game. Most would think that the Badgers would look to be a more defensive team this year, but Eaves pointed out that they will still try to push the puck, and play solid defense as well.

Whether or not this team will be back in the Frozen Four is a long ways out for this team, but don't be too surprised to see them turn some heads down the stretch. A lot has changed, but not everything has changed when it comes to Wisconsin hockey.
