Wisconsin Rolls in Wild Football Weekend

The final score may not have shown it, but Wisconsin ran all over Minnesota in the battle for Paul Bunyan's axe. The rest of the college football on the other hand this weekend was by no means as convincing.

A weekend that looked to have a solid group of games around the country quickly turned into wild weekend of close finishes and upsets. The biggest of those upsets will directly affect the Badgers in the near future.

Alabama's loss to South Carolina on Saturday will make Ohio State number one when the new polls come out. That means Bucky will have their shot at knocking off number one in less than a week. While Ohio State may be number one, the other shocker directly impacted the Big Ten championship race.

Michigan State beating Michigan was not shocking, but the way that they did it was. Saturday Denard Robinson played his worst game as Michigan's starter throwing three interceptsion. Two of those coming in the red zone. Michigan State then went on to route the Wolverines putting the Spartans in the driver seat in the Big Ten.

While the Wisconsin victory by no means was as exciting as some of the other finishes, the Badgers win may help right the ship heading into a huge game next Saturday. Wisconsin was able to do what they wanted against the Gophers. James White and John Clay ran for 100 yards a piece, and punched it in a combined five times. Although Wisconsin ran the ball the way they wanted too it was the passing game that opened up in this one.

The Badgers were able to get Nick Toon, and David Gilreath involved in the passing game after a bismal performance last week. Gilreath also was able to return kickoffs this week and perhaps may hold the job the remainder of the season. The Badgers were also able to get Lance Kendricks back involved this week, and the combination of Toon, Gilreath, and Kendricks are key to the Badgers success going forward.

All in all the vicotry over the Gophers may not have came over a great football team, but the Badgers have addressed a lot of problems. While there are a good number of areas for improvement, on this weekend of madness the Badgers found another way to survive, and thrive.
