Week 6: Games of the Week

Last weekend was in some ways a wild one. Not much in the way of upsets, but entertaining none the less. LSU's miracle victory in the "final" seconds. Oregon's "comeback" victory over Stanford. This weekend on the other hand may not feature many upsets as well, but should pack some exciting football action.

The Big Show!

Alabama @ South Carolina
Another good game in the SEC this week, and this one has upset potential. South Carolina packs a solid offense that likes to throw the ball around from time to time, and will test the Alabama secondary. On the other hand Alabama is still the number one team in the land, and has not lost a regular season game in the SEC in the last two seasons. This one has all the potential of being a barn burner.

Boynton's Badgers Prediction:
While this game may be in Columbia, it is unlikely this Alabama team will be rattled by that after winning in Arkansas. The key to this game is Mark Ingrahm and expect him to have a big game against a Gamecock defense that at times this season has not looked great...at least good enough to slow down Ingrahm. Tide Rolls.

Put Up or Shut Up!

LSU @ Florida
This game features two teams that have not been that impressive so far this season. While the Tigers may be undefeated, two of those games were closer than they ever should have been. They almost allowed a comeback against North Carolina, and lucked out on a substitution problem last week to beat Tennessee. Florida Comes off a tough beating at Alabama last week, and have had trouble getting of to a hot start early in the game. Both of these teams are in "show me" mode, and both need a quality dominant win.

Boynton's Badgers Prediction:
While they may not start out fast, the Gators do finish games for the most part. Exclude last weekends rolling by Alabama. LSU on the hand have failed to finish games, and that will be achilles heal in this game. Florida comes out of the gates slow, but finishes of the Tigers late.

Best in the West!

Oregon State @ Arizona
Don't let the record fool you; the Beavers can play. The two losses for the Beaves come against TCU and Boise State this year, and both of them were away from Corvallis. Unfortunately for them they will play their third top ten team on the road this season when they take on Arizona. But the Wildcats have needed some late game heroics to pull of a win over Cal, and barely held on for the victory over Iowa late in the game. This one could be entertaining if the Arizona offense struggles this week, and Oregon State comes to play with the big boys again.

Boynton's Badgers Prediction:
A tough schedule for the Beaves comes back to bite them yet again this week. While they do have the offense to hang with Arizona, the Beavers don't have the defense to hold down Nick Foles and the Wildcats. This one may be another close one down the stretch for Arizona, but they should hold on yet again.

Best Big Ten!

Michigan State @ Michigan
The second best rivalry involving a team from Michigan is finally here. It's the battle between big brother, and little brother; but little brother has owned it the last two years. This year both come into the game undefeated, and both are already looking at Big Ten championship aspirations. This game is a huge test for both teams with Michigan State being the toughest defense Denard Robinson has seen, and Michigan being the first true road test for teh Spartans this year.

Boynton's Badgers Prediction:
This is a tough game to call. Both teams have looked impressive, but as we've pointed out; neither is without their problems. This will be a huge game for both, but you have to take the team with the most balance. While the offense for Michigan is potent, the defense is about as good as a decent high school. Michigan State packs a more balanced team, and that will be a big difference in this game. But never count Michigan and Denard Robinson completely out...Michigan State wins a close one.
