Badger Basketball....Oops, Football Routes Indiana

If you just glanced at the score you may have thought it was a basketball score. At least for the Badgers, but it was indeed the football score. The Badgers set all kinds of records, and routed the Hoosiers 83-20.

On a record setting day the Badgers recorded the highest point total by one team in Big Ten play since 1950. As well as raising their season scoring average above 40 points a game. All without John Clay, and their starting center.

For the third straight game the star was Montee Ball. This time it wasn't in a reserve roll, but rather as the starter. Ball ran for 167 yards, and three touchdowns. But he wasn't the only Badger tailback to find the endzone. James White punched it in twice, and ran for 144 yards in the game.

The Badgers were also able to cash in through the air as well. Starting quarterback Scott Tolzein threw for 181 yards, and three touchdowns himself, but the biggest pass play came from a back-up.

In a controversial call Badgers back-up quarterback Jon Budmayr connected with Jared Abbrederis for his first touchdown of the season. The reason for the controversy is because it came on third down with the Badgers already leading 69-13. Add in the fact that the play was a 74 yard touchdown pass, and you have your controversy.

The question if Wisconsin ran up the score has been a serious talking point around college football since Saturday. (A conversation we will have in our MyTake segment.) Even though the defense accounted for one touchdown, and created two other turnovers that turned into points.

A downside of the game, if you want to call it a downside, was that punter Brad Nortman was unable to practice. By practice we mean play. The Badgers scored on every possession, and kept Nortman on the sidelines.

When it comes the game as a whole their were not many places to find negatives for the Badgers. A record setting game without your star runningback, and a solid performance by the defense leaves the Badgers with very little to improve on. A very little that Bret Bielema and his staff will work on before traveling to Michigan next Saturday.
